    WHAT'S NEW

Coming Soon – InforMED by Wellness Forum Health

    First issue: Feb 2015

InforMED is a magazine that provides analyses of research related to health. Its case studies and knowledge digests are prepared by experts and are presented in an easy-to-read form. The articles cover the benefits and risks associated with both traditional and alternative approaches to health, and are designed to assist consumers in making informed decisions.

To develop the information presented in InforMED, a panel of experts analyzes evidence based on 19 evaluation and filtering tools, and then prepares reports of its findings. Additionally, various sources of information, such as government agencies, health organizations, practice groups, nationally recognized clinics, non-profit groups and academic centers are rated based on how well their advice to patients adheres to what the science shows to be best practices. Consumers will then have tools for evaluating other sources of information for credibility and reliability.

In our first issue, we will provide more details about our filtering criteria, and evaluate treatment for coronary artery disease. We’ll be showing the results of our filters as applied to advice given by Dr. Esselstyn, the Mayo Clinic, The American College of Cardiology, The American Heart Association, The Cleveland Clinic, PCRM, The National Institutes of Health, and others.

If you want to subscribe to InforMED, please send an email to pampopper@msn.com. The first few issues will be free!

    BETTER THAN VEGAN

Eating healthy just got a whole lot easier. The science is very clear. A whole-foods, plant-based diet is the healthiest possible way to eat—but veganism itself doesn’t mean health, as Chef Del Sroufe, author of the New York Times bestseller Forks Over Knives—The Cookbook, knows better than anyone. Sroufe managed to reach 475 pounds while eating a vegan diet rich in pastries, peanut butter, and potato chips. After converting to a vegan diet with minimal processed foods, sugars and added oils, he lost more than 240 pounds without giving up taste.
